Accomplishment

My dear, sweet wife likes to make fun of the fact that I really get a buzz off of getting thing done. And of course, she's right. Just today, I was excited to get up while she was still sleeping and make a quick little home depot run so I could replace the air filter on our home, hang some candle holders on the wall (I think they're called SCONCES), and cut some branches off of the white pine in the backyard. (Shout-out to friends and family members who gave us gift cards at showers and as wedding gifts. HO-LLA) It's so nice to have a day or two off from work and have a chance to get some tasks done around the house.

So, on that note, I happened upon a blog of someone I don't know who made a list of achievements in 2007 and my mouth watered. So, here's my attempt:

ACCOMPLISHMENTS OF 2007:

Met, Dated, Proposed to and Married my wife.
Bought a House.
Bought a Dog.
Got a promotion at work.
Made B's or higher in all my classes.
Bought and learned how to smoke a pipe.
Bought and set up a Christmas Tree.
Attended my first minor league baseball game.
Became part of a church after my last church disbanded
Learned Hebrew.
Ate Pizza.
Moved a Piano twice with no apparent damage.
Got a Kentucky Driver's License.

...that's all I can think of.

Jack

Sometimes I want to strangle the life out of him: for instance, this morning when he opened the gate from the backyard and ran off, wouldn't come when I called him, and then ran away from me. Of course now he's all cute and cuddly on the couch and it's harder to stay mad.

Stupid dog.

2008!

So, it's that time of year again when everyone has a hard time writing in the correct year when they write the date. Last January, I made a prediction of the things that would take place in 2007 (see link above). I was grossly incorrect.

1. I did not go to Atlanta, and planned not to once I got to know Rebecca well...

2. I am MORE involved in my community, but I'd still like to be more involved.

3. I lived with the Huesteds for 6 months. So I was half-right

4. I also gained internet when I moved in with my new roommate, Rebecca

5. The translation degree is a shadow of a memory now.

6. Most of my friends came to see me in 2007!

7. I still love people in faraway places, but i most definitely love more the one that lives in my home.

8. Lost: still addicted. Class: Gradually faded out. Lattes: still making 'em

9. Debt: I married into more of it :) ...and then we bought a house!

10. 2007 was my new best year. And I think 2008 is going to have to show some real gumption to be able to compete. 2003 was memorable in quantity and 2006 was good, but 2007 was the year of Rebecca. And that's hard to beat.

I'll make some 2008 predictions later...if I can think of any.
